US To Suspend Syria Diplomacy With Russia, Prepares "Military Options"
Zero Hedge ^ | 9/29/2016 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 09/29/2016 12:58:04 PM PDT by orchestra

In the most dramatic diplomatic escalation involving the Syrian conflict in the past years, yesterday John Kerry issued an ultimatum to Russia, in which he warned his colleague Lavrov to stop bombing Aleppo or else the US would suspend all cooperation and diplomacy with Russia.

24 hours later, this appears to be precisely what is about to take place, leading to an even greater geopolitical shock in Syria. According to Retuers, the United States is expected to tell Russia on Thursday it is suspending their diplomatic engagement on Syria following the Russian-backed Syrian government's intense attacks on Aleppo, U.S. officials said on condition of anonymity.

Why now and what happens next? According to US officials, the Obama administration is now considering tougher responses to the Russian-backed Syrian government assault on Aleppo, including military options. According to Reuters, the new discussions were being held at "staff level," and have yet to produce any recommendations to President Barack Obama, who has resisted ordering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the country's multi-sided civil war.

However, now that diplomacy with Russia is set to end, this will give the greenlight for Obama to send in US troops in Syria, with Putin certain to respond appropriately, in what will be the biggest military escalation in the Syrian proxy war in its five and a half year history.

Time to buy some iodine pills. Unless we get our asses kicked by Russian ground troops(which I doubt) it will go Nuclear.

"Remind me again, why are we even participating in Syria? What makes Assad any worse than the murderous thugs we are supporting?"

Because the U.N./NWO cabal needs to clear a path for Iran to take over the entire Middle East. Even our invasion of Iraq was part of this mission. "Bad intelligence on Saddam's 'yellow cake'" YEAH RIGHT.

Appears that his goal is to get us in a shooting war with Russia before the election.

This fits the narrative of the Russians hacking the DNC and interfering in our elections. Obama and Hillary will blame Trump for encouraging Putin to act.

“Reset button”? Yeah, right.

Obama wants to spin up a real war with Russia. Why? The goals have to be power and profit.

What I just don’t get is how they cannot realize a war with Russia inevitably ends in a nuclear confrontation, which will make most of this planet uninhabitable. What good does their money and power do after that?!

Re Assad being worse than the ISIS thugs we seem to support, you said,

“Because the U.N./NWO cabal needs to clear a path for Iran to take over the entire Middle East. “

That doesn’t compute, because the Iranians are helping Alawite Assad in conjunction with the Russians. If we were helping the Iranians in this matter, wouldn’t we just do nothing?

“Assad was the only one trying to keep the islamo whackos at bay.”

Quite the opposite. From 2004 - 2010 Assad supported Al Qaeda in Iraq (AIQ) providing them safe havens, equipment, intelligence, training and volunteers. Many Syrians Al Qaeda fighters were captured in Iraq. It was only after the US withdrawal that Assad dis-invited AIQ from Syria. They said no thanks; started fighting Assad in Syria; then re branded themselves as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria -ISIS.

No pity for Assad. If he hadn’t provided support for AIQ we wouldn’t have paid such a high price in Iraq and Iraq would have remained stable. He fed a wild animal, then decided to stop feeding it so the animal turned on him. F Assad.

The website is dedicated to financial doom porn. It has a lot of interesting information rarely seen elsewhere but jeez them boys like to predict the end of the world. Of course, if the system ever does crash, they will have seen it coming. Stopped clock and all.

Well, not really better, and not because of what you wrote.

I’m still confused. Is Obama bowing to the Saudis? Then why give $150 billion and a nuclear green light to the Iranians. I know they’re both Muslims, but don’t they hate each other?

There is no rhyme or reason that a person raised in a civilized society can make of the middle east. The centuries old hatreds between the various islamic sects, between the various clans within the sects and now between the various nations all ensure a bubbling sh!t stew where no one thing explains anything over there. And even if you do manage to find a morsel of reason in that stew of hatred by the time the sun rises again someone will have eaten it or stolen it.

Nicely said.

Sometimes I think Obama pictures himself as the great Muslim unifier, so he roots for Sunni and Shia as the situations arise, unless it interferes with his immediate election needs. Syria is an unexplainable mess to me. Our threatening Russia in their backyard is writing a check we can't (and shouldn't) cash. It would as if the Russians were fooling around somewhere near the US. It's a geographically impossible situation, especially with unreliable Turkey as a key part in the logistics chain.

Yeah, Obama is probably as messed up inside as the middle east is. We do hold some of the blame for the mess that place is in though. After WWI we drew national boundaries over there that intentionally put natural groupings of sects and clans on different sides of what to them were artificial borders. The old divide and rule routine. They hold most of the blame, but we don't have all that clean of hands ourselves.

When it comes to Syria we should just get out of the way. Syria provides Russia with a warm water port in Tartus (their only one I think) and Syria is also a Russian geo-political play to block the gas pipeline the monied arabs are trying to build from the Persian Gulf into Europe. Right now Russia has a monopoly in the European natural gas market and they are willing to fight (in Syria) to keep. Don't mess with a hungry bear unless you're willing to lose an arm. Or worse.
