An Ivy League professor on why colleges don’t hire more faculty of color: ‘We don’t want them’
While giving a talk about Minority Serving Institutions at a recent higher education forum, I was asked a question pertaining to the lack of faculty of color at many majority institutions, especially more elite institutions.
My response was frank: “The reason we don’t have more faculty of color among college faculty is that we don’t want them. We simply don’t want them.” Those in the audience were surprised by my candor and gave me a round of applause for the honesty.

They do not need them because there are plenty Lilly white applications from aspiring professors with “high cheek bones” in the applicant pool.
Hey, your anecdotal experience reflects the majority. But there are highly qualified black professors out there who have to struggle if they are too excellent and require high standards of students and are color blind. Like unions, if you don’t conform to the requirements of the black racists on campus, your life is a different kind of hell. Just saying.
Someone missed that memo!
I had occasion to consult at a local college a few years back. They harangued me about "diversity" for almost a year, before sending me to new employee orientation (don't ask....)
Anyhoo, I'm sitting at orientation with about 100 other victims suckers"new hires". More "Diversity" haranguing. A number of people from the Office of Diversity spoke - apparently, it's so important that they need a VP of Diversity, a number of Directors of Diversity and Student Diversity Liasons, and of course, all of their attendant staff.
I was bored silly, so I started looking around and counting noses. 95% of the new hires were just as white as me. AND - most of the rest of the "Diversity" were Hispanics on the cleaning crew (no stereotypes, there).
Self-hating liberal hypocrites, all.
The educated “elite” are everything they claim their uneducated lessors to be.

I had a spinal fusion with a world class black neurosurgeon at Duke University with excellent results, other than chronic life long pain, which he could not fix. However, I would not actively seek out a black physician, unless I wanted a handicapped parking permit.
There was an old joke about that. The US and the USSR had a drag race. The US car won.
The next day it was reported in the Pravda as, “USSR and US drag race. USSR finished second. US car finished next to last.”
And there it is.

Actually, the NBA will hire qualified players no matter what the skin color. There are lots of white guy Euros in the NBA. Look at the Denver Nuggets with Nurkic and Jokic and Juancho Hernangomez.
