Gotta be careful doing stuff like this. The law protects trespassers from purposeful or even negligent injury. One hope he has a warning about the sign being electrified.

This raises a lot of interesting issues since this was more than simple trespass, it was trespassing to commit larceny.

True enough. The trespasser could be sued or charged with trespassing to commit larceny but the trespasser could countersue or complain about injuries suffered while trespassing.

law may protect trespassers, but not thieves. otherwise everyone shot while robbing a house could press charges.
