A draw.
9/26/2016 | By Laz A. Mataz

A draw. No major knockout on either side. Trump stood up for himself when necessary. I don't think it will move the needle, and Krauthammer made a good observation: Draws usually go to the challenger, and that is Donald Trump.

If I were to advise Trump, it would consist of the following:

1) Complete your sentences. You are giving the audience too much credit for figuring out what you mean when you shoot off two or three words.

2) Stop repeating the same point 5 or 6 times. You are wasting time.

3) Speak less to broad concepts and more to the common man.

4) Affability matters. Reagan won on affability. Smile a little more, but not with that forced weird smile Hillary plastered on most of the debate. Also, an affable Reaganesque "There you go again"-style phrase, queued up and ready to go when appropriate, would work wonders.

5) Next time, don't leave those hanging slow pitches unswatted. For example, when Hillary talks about your charity, mention her Clinton Foundation that only gives out 6% of it's money to charitable works. Also, speak more about how Hillary is the DC Establishment, and you are there to challenge that. Many people will identify that as a key takeaway.

On the whole I give Hillary high marks, and Trump close but not as good. Stylistically Hillary did very well, but in content Trump nailed it a few times.

However, he needs to take a reality check and prepare more in a structured debate setting. Obama had a HORRIBLE first debate and came back strong. Trump wasn’t horrible, but he needs to come back strong. I know he can do it.

I tend to agree with you. Especially when it comes to the smiling. He needs to deep six the scowling look. Like you said, he needs to take advantage of openings she creates. Instead of defending his contribution record, attack her criminal Clinton Foundation Charity, and end it with him saying he no problem with his record of charitable contributions, of which he supports many that are worthwhile. Speak directly to the people, not the moderator or the opponent for he is not trying to reach them. He needs to act as if they are not even present. One last point, he not portray himself as a victim as he did while complaining about her attack ads. Take the high road, and say while I could offer lots of attack ads against her, I chose not to do so. That he will leave the gutter fighting to her because that is all she can offer up. That he would prefer to talk about what is wrong with this country and his ideas to fix those problems.

For the most part he held his own, but he is capable of doing so much better. He needs to provide the knockout punch, and unfortunately it wasn't delivered tonight. However, the same it true for Clinton too. She delivered no knockout punch.

It might seem that Hillary had a better performance, but on points for arguments made which weren't refuted, Hillary lost. I thought Trump won major points by pointing out her decades of failures, the heavy burden of taxation and regulation on businesses, the continuing loss of jobs, and the need for tax incentives to bring back money that is stored in overseas banks.

If anything, Trump fought with one hand behind his back.

Hillary can string so many lied together in a single sentence that it is impossible to keep up with them.

I think this is the secret of the Clintons’ political success. It’s like trying to drink out of a fire hose to try and consider and refute their lies as fast as they spew them. Therefor, they get away with so much . . . even if a few get called out along the way.

Got any more, cheap-shot artist? BTW it’s considered courtesy here to ping somebody when you’re talking about them.

I think he did better than draw, it will work to his advantage. He made himself quite acceptable to those who don’t know or pay attention to politics. He didn’t have to knock her out, that doesn’t really happen in these things...but he will keep his momentum.

I was listening to her for a vision or plans that would give her traction and would put Trump on his heels.

She offered none.

It is your mistake. Laz the skirt chaser is self deprecating humor that mocks male shallowness. Most everyone here gets the joke which is why he’s a popular poster.

Some how I doubt you speak for most, in fact I question if you actually are capable of your own opinion. laz is nothing more then a former cuze loser, and not a very good one at that.

I didn’t like DJT committing to support her if she wins.

That bothered me too but you know that if he said otherwise, that would become the lead story for the next 8 days. We don't need that kind of distraction, especially as Trump has the momentum and has now taken the lead in most of the polls (even though many of them are still skewed).

Besides, Trump is feeling pretty confident that he will win.

Hillary was the better debater but Trump won the debate. WHY? only two things will be remembered in a week...

Hillary 30 failed years a politician with a smooth lying tongue.

Trump a businessman with common sense, gets results, says it like it is.

What I mentioned on the other thread is that my husband is now voting Trump, not third party. I asked him why— and we have argued about this before— and he said the debate was kind of boring and he learned nothing new EXCEPT that Trump can hold his own when attacked by the moderator as well as Hillary Clinton. Of course my husband knows the issues. And I would absolutely hate the election to be decided on the fact that stupid people fell for Hillary's lies. I think they have to come up with a strategy where Trump can take on the moderator as well as Clinton. Don't not answer the question but answer how he needs to, addressing her lies, corruption and ineptitude. The questions aren't going to be asked by the media we have, he's going to have to create some of his own opportunities. I can't believe part of the msm is saying she was great on the Iran issue— talk about a scary proposition if this is how we are going to deal with terrorist, going nuclear, countries.

Guys. Guys. I love you both.

But this debate has seriously pissed off all of us, especially Forehead Boy’s blatant bias in favor of Herself during the debate, and it not being a knockout blow like we wanted.

Maybe we should take a break from politics and come back tomorrow before we say and do anything we regret?

Ok, now you are acting like Hillary and lying outright. Search my ENTIRE POSTING HISTORY and demonstrate I *ever* supported Cruz over Trump.

You can't, JoHillaryClinton.

Put away the booze, ya trodglodyte.

It might seem that Hillary had a better performance, but on points for arguments made which weren't refuted, Hillary lost.

I agree with that to the point that it was prominently mentioned in my original article.

I thought Trump won major points by pointing out her decades of failures,

He did that very well.

the heavy burden of taxation and regulation on businesses,

He only mentioned that once. I would have liked that one repeated.

the continuing loss of jobs, and the need for tax incentives to bring back money that is stored in overseas banks.

Both brilliantly played by The Donald.
