circulation has fell

I note the above grammar fail, and a couple of others in the article. I don't beat up on FReepers who use poor grammar, because they don't write for a living or a hobby, but this level of grammar fail is unacceptable for somebody who is a wanna be reporter, and really undercuts the credibility of whoever wrote this. IMHO

And I agree with your point - what is the source documentation for the writer's assertions?

She also compares subscription numbers to total circulation. I suspect she doesn't know the difference.

I suspect she's lying about the daily subscriber numbers from the beginning of September: " at the start of September 2016 boasted 271,900 daily subscribers"

While I can't easily locate the 2016 numbers, I did find the numbers for 2013, that show DMN daily circulation (subscribers plus box and store sales plus free) for March, 2013 of 190,613. So she has a MASSIVE increase in circulation (circulation is always going to be higher than subscription for a print organ) over a period of 3.5 years when most papers have been losing readers. http://auditedmedia.com/news/blog/top-25-us-newspapers-for-march-2013.aspx

In addition to not knowing the difference between circulation and subscriptions, she also probably doesn't know how to read the numbers. The same 2013 report shows branded circulation of 409,265. But that includes the Spanish language Al Dia, the freebie throwaway Briefing, and the Denton paper.

I have no more tolerance for lying conservative reporters than I do for lying liberal reporters.

Most of us understand the message and are not Grammar Nazis. The message was 100% accurate.

I totally agree with you, people who write professionally should be aware of elementary grammar and word usage. If a plumber or electrician were as careless with the tools of their trade they wouldn’t stay in business very long.

Maybe I am a crotchety old lady, but if you cannot express yourself using the proper words, I wonder about your ability to use logic and to actually say what you mean. Not to mention the ability to get the facts right.
