Some women, especially single mothers, love to have a man in uniform at their beck and call and I think this was one of those calls. All they have to do is snap their little fingers and voilà, they have the undivided attention of their knight in shining armor. In a town like the one I live in, some single moms have a thing for knowing exactly when certain officers are available to respond to a call such as theirs. It’s really a form of stalking where the stalker knows how to bring ‘prey’ right up to their doorsteps and into the home. To be fair though, some cops are suckers and let the stalkers get the best of them, especially the middle-aged cops who like to have their egos stroked when they know the caller is a hot babe.

Violent fathers with threats to rap children upside the head, create passive children.

As the father of a 4 year old, my kid hasn’t ever been stupid enough to do this, but I’m OK with this. She called the non-emergency number, if the local PD didn’t have time to deal with it, fine. But in a lot of places, and I suspect Scottsdale Arizona being one of them, local PD aren’t constantly pinned down by emergencies, and as such, doing something like this as they go about their rounds is probably fine.

And a kid in the back seat has it within their power to unbuckle their seat belt, once they understand how to, and if they do, there’s no safe way to immediately rectify it. Yes, you can pull out whatever child discipline techniques you have at your disposal, but there’s no guarantee that a 3-year-old having decided this is a fun thing to do is going to get the message. I could see why someone might want to just pull out all the stops to make sure that it’s conveyed as effectively as possible. Again, if the local PD didn’t deem it a worthy expenditure of time, they were fully within their rights to say so.
