Once I visited Montreal and local TV news showed a man named William Johnson was hit with a pie during a St Jean Baptiste (I think) celebration
Johnson was an English language advocate
(Anglophone) and he was attacked by an advocate of Francophone or bilingualism.

Or maybe he advocated bilingualism instead of French only. Wiki:” As president of the association recognized by the federal government to defend Quebec’s official language minority,(William) Johnson insisted on marching in Montreal’s Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day parade in 1998, over the objections of the organizers and the police; during the parade, the Entartistes threw a cream pie in his face.”
