Authorities arrested one man and are seeking a second suspect in an unusual double shooting in Bridge City.
Darnell Phoenix, 21, of Bridge City, is accused of shooting a 42-year-old River Ridge woman who had armed herself to retrieve her son, whom Phoenix was holding at gunpoint, according to Glen T. Boyd, spokesman of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Phoenix, who suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen during the encounter, was booked Sunday (Sept. 18) with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery, an arrest report said.
Investigators are also searching for Phoenix's alleged accomplice, Jordan Jones, 23. He is wanted on warrants for two counts of attempted second-degree murder, Boyd said.
The shootings occurred about 1 p.m. Sept. 11 in the 1400 block of Utah Beach Drive in Bridge City. The woman's 23-year-old was hanging out with Phoenix and Jones.
