Big deal.
He assaulted and battered a person. A battery is any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another. In CAlifornia, a battery is punishable by a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment.
I’m sure you noticed the “or.” I sincerely doubt the prosecutor will push for a jail term for a sitting mayor of the state capital. But he’s got some “dime” to pay to the state and unless he also wants court costs and attorney fees, a settlement with the victim.
