George Washington, Francis Scott Key, Robert Louis Stevenson, and James Lick are now in the basket of deplorables? This country has gone insane.
Of course the obsession over slavery, 151 years after it ceased to exist in the United States, is truly a pathological sign. It is not just an attack on America's roots, but on the roots of just about every culture on the Planet. For example the Patriarchs in the Bible; the lineage of King David; the lineage of the greatest Kings in Europe, were all "slaveholders."
Much of the world went through a slave owning or feudal serfdom, in the gradual development of advanced agriculture. The obsessed show no understanding of the concept in virtually every culture of every land, of a hierarchy. Hissing insults at those who were at the top in any period accomplishes absolutely nothing of value. It does, of course, encourage the gullible to reject role models that they would otherwise emulate to their own personal advantages.
Pathetic! The obsession only hurts those who have been convinced to consider themselves perpetual victims of what happened long ago--a new vicious form of ongoing bondage.
