This ‘Grease’ conspiracy theory will totally bum you out
New York Post ^ | September 8, 201 | Andrea Morabito

The conspiracy theory, which is being recirculated thanks to a Reddit thread, claims that Sandy, played by Olivia Newton-John, was actually dead, or dying, throughout the entirety of the 1978 movie.

The user, who first posted the theory three years ago, cites the lyrics to the film’s opening number, “Summer Nights,” which says that when Danny (John Travolta) and Sandy first met, he “saved her life, she nearly drowned” — and argues that Sandy actually died on the beach that day.

Another Redditor took things even darker, claiming that Danny was also dead the whole time and made up the name “Sandy” because he met the cute blonde on the beach, and that the movie represents his dying wishes for his final year at Rydell High.

My theory is that Danny was gay and spent a fortune paying off men he slept with so that they wouldn’t tell the tabloids. Oh, wait . . . . .

And if you play Ozzy Ozbourn albums backwards they tell you to kill yourself.

They may not tell you explicitly, but that's what you'll feel like doing when you're through.

There were two good things about “Grease:”
1) Olivia Newton John in that black spandex catsuit;
2) The end.

I love all of these crazy fan theories. Just a guilty pleasure, I guess. My favorite is the Ferris Bueller "Fight Club" theory where Cameron stayed in bed the whole day and Ferris was a figment of his imagination.

Hadn't heard that one! My favorite is the one about Jessica Fletcher being Cabot Cove's serial killer and framing a different patsy every week.

Actually, if you have any appreciation for musical numbers, the Summer Nights duet (mentioned in the lame article) is a very good duet number performed very well by the two principal performers in the movie.

And if you play Ozzy Ozbourn albums backwards they tell you to kill yourself.
Heck, play them forward long enough and you’ll want to kill yourself too.

It is the quintessential passive/aggressive album.

Forward is passive, backward is aggressive.

And “Strawberry Fields Forever” comes out as “A Pair of Sleepy Red Moose” when played backwards.

I record Frank Sinatra LPs backwards on cassette to be played on long trips if I get drowsy. The Chairman spouting pure gibberish is more than I can sleep through.

;^)
