Outrage Mounts Over Refusal of NFL Quarterback to Stand for National Anthem

Rep. Pete King shot back on Sunday.

"Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand for the national anthem is entirely wrong," King, a Republican Representative from the second district, said in an email statement. "It is also an indicator of how low our cultural standards have been degraded that anyone is actually supporting this behavior.

". . . Having an NFL quarterback insult our flag by refusing to stand during the playing of the 'Star Spangled Banner,' adds neither honesty nor intelligence to that debate."

King added Kaepernick's claims of black oppression are overstated and, more controversially, self-inflicted.

"Kaepernick charges that America 'oppresses black people and people of color' even though America has elected and re-elected an African-American President and in the previous eight years of the Bush Administration both Secretaries of State (Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice) were African-American," King said. "And in Kaepernick's NFL the large majority of players are African-American.

"If he is referring to violence against African-Americans, that comes primarily from within the black community itself. If he is reciting the fraudulent Black Lives Matter theme that police are targeting African-Americans, then he is clearly wrong and misguided.

King added America's immigration is a sign of strength in the racial debate.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, a black Puerto Rican American, chided his fellow NFL player for making it personal and racial.

"Regardless of how you feel about the things that are going on in America today and the things that are going on across the world with gun violence and things like that: You've got to respect the flag and stand up with your teammates," Cruz told USA Today's Lorenzo Reyes.

"It's bigger than just you." !

I just read an interesting piece that basically said it would be in SF best interests to bench him, keep him from getting hurt, and release him before next April. Saves them something like 14.5 million - enough to get the attention of even an NFL team. He probably sees the writing on the wall, and his agent / publicist is telling him to cash in. Look for a faked injury soon, so he can cash in on the 5th year clause in his contract, then hit the talk show circuit about how repressive the NFL is.

Out of curiosity I took a look at this poor guy's contract. $12 million signing bonus. $114 million over six years, which works out to $19 million a year, $61 million of which is guaranteed.

To put a perspective on it, this is more money than Hillary has managed to amass through bribery in that same period of time. Surely a guy with that track record of oppression has earned the right to lecture us all on it. Or maybe not.

Jake Tapper wrote a book about the fighting in Afghanistan so he knows a thing or two about the conflict. As far as his politics go, I would not give you two cents for what this rabid liberal thinks.

You know, when you think about it, this actually helps Trump.

The Left, like now this Kaepernick, just can’t stop pissing us off and trying to smear our faces in it.

We’re also tired of the same old song and dance. “We get it, we get it. We’re racists because we’re white, ok.”

Now go vote Trump, because doing so is only thing left for the little guy to do.

Local Commie news here in LA said that Kaeparnick is “sparking a debate” IDIOTS..there is NOTHING TO DEBATE, either you love America or you don’t..and Colin, here is a little bit of news for you, what is wonderful about America is the fact that you are NOT forced to stay here, so you can take your tatoo infested no talent body and LEAVE..I hear the Congo has excellent real estate, check it out..oh and another thing give back ALL the money that you made here, in the country that you hate so much, throwing a football around, give it to the inner cities, they could use it

I don't think the stunt will affect Kaepernick all that much. His real problem is sucking at QB. I'm sure half the NFL fans are America-hating leftists like him. I doubt the fans in San Francisco Sodom will care.

I missed something. When did he decide to become “black”? Is he now also going to come out as “gay”? Or the more cynical version, “bisexual,” so you can claim all of the special treatment without actually having to change your behavior at all.

I had read Colin Kaepernick was adopted and raised by a white couple. I am glad that his upbringing was such that he has made a success of his life and finances. Maybe he could use part of his money to advance others he perceives to be struggling. He is dark skinned, and I don’t know his actual ethnicity. I thought when I first read this and saw his picture he was perhaps Arabic, but seems more likely he is mulatto. Anyone know? Just curious if he is part black and if that plays a part in this career destroying move.

He claims black oppression when he is paid some $19 million just for playing games?! He is irrelevant and readily replaced - not somebody I would miss. Maybe he should consider moving to another country if things are so bad here.

Whoever is in charge of marketing for the NFL is a buffoon.

Involving your business in politics, regardless of which side you pick, is guaranteed to piss off a significant portion of the market.

Michael Jordan supposedly observed that Republicans buy shoes, too.

It’s no more complicated than that.

I gave up on professional sports years ago because of crap like this—and I live in an NFL city.

If the San Francisco 49ers release Colin Kaepernick next Friday, then he would be a free agent and NFL teams would be more willing to sign him. That way, they won’t need to give up valuable assets such as draft picks. Kaepernick might even get a chance with teams that already have a starting quarterback since he can be utilized as a backup. However, the belief is that Kaepernick is going to have his agent find a team that will let him start.

For both Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers, this strange saga needs to come to an end. Kaepernick would like to continue his career in the NFL, and he would like to do so as a starter. The Niners need a starting quarterback, and if Kaepernick is not that guy, then it’s time to move on to someone else.

Unfortunately for Kaepernick, he was on the trade block shortly ago and only two teams showed an interest, the NY Jets and the Cleveland Browns. The Jets have decided to sty with Fitzpatrick and the Browns signed RGIII. So he’s in dry dock and no one seems to want to float him. He way end up ion Canada.

One note, the 49ers have not sent out a media blitz to try to head off the bad publicity he is generating. So his “statement” may be seen at the box office and the team isn’t doing damage control. Guess they think the south sound fans are brainwashed enough to wait out. I hope they remember that the Raiders are still around and would love the company.
