You could also go to Safari settings and turn off JavaScript. That might help. Also make sure that block popups is turned on. I usually block 3rd party cookies too.

I also make it a habit to clear cookies and website data on iphone & ipad on a regular basis. At least once a day- and always after I happen upon a website that is not quite “right.”
