A mother who was shot and killed while pushing a baby in a stroller on Chicago's South Side Friday has been identified as a cousin of Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade.
Chicago Police said Nykea Aldridge, 32, was shot in the head and arm by two men outside an elementary school at around 3:30 p.m. local time Friday. Investigators believe the shooters were targeting a third man.

The old woman pauses to catch her breath then tearfully says, “I will never forgive you for making us move to Chicago”.

While it's technically correct that this could happen in any city, some areas of certain cities make this much more likely than in other places.
In Pittsburgh, where the 'right to carry' is respected and cherished, the murder rate in the black communities is much lower than Chicago or Baltimore, where the law abiding blacks are prevented from self protection.
In the small town where I live, it is very 'safe' but I and many of my friends carry on a regular basis.

People don’t have their own lives. Many live vicariously through the Facebook posts and tweets of celebrities. If something can’t be connected in some way to somebody everybody knows, a celebrity, then, like the tree falling in the forest, it doesn’t matter.
I suspect this desire for 15 minutes (or more) of fame drives suicides, mass killings, and all manner of crime. It was the desire to see himself in the news that lead the BTK killer to send emails to the police. (He didn’t know they could be traced and so was caught in the act at his local church.)
