A very good comment. I am in my 50s and I have never seen so much bitterness on either side. I would say there is a gradual coiling of the spring effect on both sides. Both are unwilling to accept defeat.

On the leftist side I am not sure what is driving them. They have been in power for 7.8 years and yet they are very unhappy. They really do hate Trump and yet one cannot get a coherent answer as to why. It has caused a separation for me and my wife, we just cannot connect with those folks, well meaning as they might be.

On the right hand side it is a genuine fear of being made a an oppressed minority in their own land. Many of the folks on the right are ready to fight, if they could find a flag to rally around. These are the same folks who are law abiding, but they are on the cusp of an inner rebellion.

It seems to me we are closer to an effective civil war than in any time in my life. A lot of the attitudes read like the 1859/1860 political discourse.
