As an AS patient myself, how effective is Humira for you? My rheumatologist recommended it for me a couple years ago. He gave me a brochure about it to consider. On every single page of the brochure was the dire warning of possible side effects, TB, cancer, and on and on with all sorts of dreadful side effects. I just couldn’t bring myself to try the medication. I continued NSAID treatment that I had been taking for 20+ years.
Can you tell me why a device that costs a dollar to make be 5 or 6 hundred to the consumer?

Because the consumer pays for it. Why charge less if the consumers pay for it? Free market works that way. Billion dollar companies aren’t charities.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — As a pharmaceutical company run by U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin’s daughter faces scrutiny for hiking prices on life-saving allergy injection pens, Manchin is remaining mum.
The Democratic West Virginia senator’s daughter, Heather Bresch, is CEO of Mylan, which manufactures EpiPens.
A two-dose package cost around $94 nine years ago. The cost averaged more than six times that in May.
Manchin spokesman Jonathan Kott said Wednesday the senator had no comment.

Yeah sagar, the consumer will pay for it. What if that consumer isn’t financially able to pay for it?
My understanding is that there is much cheaper competition, but Mylands product has a more fool proof delivery system. People don't want to be trained with competitors product as the syringe system is a bit more tricky.
And you know what ticks me off, is every time there is a gas shortage or some fuel issue, if a gas station price gouges, every politician from here to the moon is holding press conferences at the gas station vowing to fine the hell out of it or shut it down. But medical gouging where people could lose their life? Oh that’s perfectly OK. I remember near the end of GW Bush term gas prices went through the roof. I think the highest it got was $5 a gallon for diesel here in New York city. But oh, lo and behold some mom and pop gas station went 25 cents over the average cost and there was Chuck Schumer holding a press conference at the gas station vowing to fine it out of existence.
The “consumer” is the insurance companies who are working hand in hand with the drug companies. But, you go on and keep defending this abhorrent practice.
