Hope you enjoy. Delta Dawn (She was 13 when she recorded this song!)
music *ping*
Helen Ready had the big hit with this song.
Was one of my favourites at 5 years old. Thanks for the post.
She had some work done.
A little girl with a big voice. She and Glenn Campbell had a fling for a few years IRRC. Poor, Glenn, such a pity we are losing him to the affliction which effects so many today.
I can remember not long ago looking at Kansas City Scouts memorabilia and one piece was an advertisement for a special deal which featured a ticket to the NHL game and then to see Tanya give a performance during one of the intermissions. Lol, making it worth it to go take in an NHL hockey game in Kansas City despite the team being so lousy those two years (1974 to 1976) that they were there for.
I prefer Tanya's version.
I took my daughter to a Phoenix Suns game back in the Eighties. Before the game, with no preannouncement, Glenn Campbell came out and played the National Anthem on a 12-string guitar. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing. I loved that guy.
Great song!
One thing for certain, we’ve no line men round these parts who could hold a candle to Glenn. In his time, he was a brighter star than John Denver.
I remember anticipating every week and being able to watch his show on tee vee.
I remember when this song was released! I was about 6 and my best friend and I would sing this at the top of our lungs when we were in the back seat of her parents station wagon!
We didn’t know what the song meant nor did we know what Helen Reddy’s song meant, ‘I am Woman’ but we could nail both songs!
That’s so funny. Nice memories.
To this day, she is still my best friend. At Christmas we are still such goofballs. If anyone suggests singing Christmas carols, we ask to sing Joy to the World and we start off at the top of our lungs with ‘Jeremiah was a bullfrog!’
