Why did the black girl runners not put their hand over their hearts? The USA bb team did.

ALL of the female athletes put their hand over their heart ... both white and black.

Except for Gabby Douglas.

If they stood respectfully at attention, cut them some slack. There are many like myself who were taught when we were young that you stood at attention with your arms at your sides to show respect. Today, I try to remember to place my hand over my heart, but trained reflex has me standing at attention most times.

You put your hand over your heart for the pledge of allegiance and stand at attention for the anthem. The hand over the heart during the anthem thing is either regional or new. Observe the pole vaulter. His hand is not over his heart and he is not unpatriotic. Cut the athletes some slack. They aren't giving a black power sign.
