What is it you are trying to say?
‘Sorry that so many electrons suffered when this garbage was posted. Here’s some pretty Trumpettes by way of thanks for their sacrifice.’
;)
But FDR did turn back ships carry Jews to the US.
I clicked on this thread for the Blazing Saddles quote, now I can leave satisfied.
Those type of articles don’t last 5 nanoseconds at the DUmp.
This gobshite does not know his own peoples plight. Several U.S. cities started to require sponsership for a person to travel from Ireland to the United States if they were to disembark in that city. Some ships WERE turned away which ended up sailing up to Canada where they were not allowed to disembark either due to disease and there were no places to quarantine the passengers on land.
Theses laws and regulations were enacted to control Irish immigration at this time because they were a burden on city and state coffers. Amazingly, to this particular edgitt at least, will be the fact that these laws were actually enforce and had to some extent the desired result. And least we forget as others have mentioned, the Irish Catholics were not part of a religious culture currently violently attacking anyone who disagrees with them, teaching children to decapitate dolls, or at the very least failing to condemn those that do.
If the Irish had a long history of suicide bombings and attacks on civilians of all nationalities, everywhere they went, it would have been wise to turn back those ships.
Can we nuke the middle east and get on with our pursuit of happiness already?
Not so easy, even if we dealt with the other Asian Mohammedan countries. We’d still have the godless communists and pinkos. And quite a bit of radioactive fallout.
The Irish famine ships were not bringing terrorists. The Irish were genuine refugees and assimilated into American culture nicely.
They must be angry that one of their few Jewish politicians came out and said that.
I know but i was just enjoying the thought.
The Irish were a fraction of the numbers we are talking about from Latin America.
I wasn’t aware that Ireland even had 113M people to invade another country. Let alone the ships.
Before the famine hit, the population of Ireland peaked at over 8.1 million. In the ten years that followed, it dropped to about 6.6 million.
Ahhhhh. Bethany you.....I missed that completely....though I did enjoy the picture on the left of the lively MAGAZINE women
Actually, many of the Irish men were taken right off the ships and pressed into the Union Army to fight the Confederates. Many of the women, and men too, were pressed immedately into indentured service. In that situation, many were taken advantage of.
FDR turned away many Jewish ships during the start of the war.
US govt. built a statue in his honor. Double standard, anyone?
I had no idea the Irish immigrants were Islamist terrorists who hate and want to kill them. I thought they were Catholics, mostly.
