The Clintonistas Rats have been using PIs for opposition research for years! It may go back with Rats to before the Clintons showed up but it became visible with the Clintons and the Clintons have made it their signature “art form”. Now the Rat party does it as SOP. For example Zero & Zero allies (like Soros!) use PIs. I have never heard of the GOP doing it. Too sordid & low class for the GOP, but its how political warfare is done now. By not doing it you are ceding an effective weapon to the enemy. I have heard that Sid Blumenthal handles this.
