Actually, I think Sweet Surrender was a bit later than 1970 (great song that is is), so I will swap it out for Tim Buckley’s Song to a Siren that came out in early 1970!

I had to search “hits of 1970.” I recognize only five tunes on the list of 100. Of them, “Snowbird” is the clear favorite.

Layla. Written and recorded in 1970, shortly after the first hijacking by a woman, Leila Khaled.

I always thought it was about her. Then later, other stories came out.

I liked Styx’s “Fooling yourself (The Angry Young Man)”

But that didn’t come out until 1978.

You were correct the first time, it was 1970.

If we didn’t stick to 1970, I could do hundreds of posts on then and surrounding years.

The Immigrant Song, probably-but my favorite Zeppelin song is Black Dog-it was one of the 1st songs I taught the cub when she was a tiny one...

I’ve been a fan of all rock-since childhood, but heavy rock and metal more than the others-I crank it up in the 4x4 and jam on the way to and from work-just an old head banger...
