Okay, now you’ve got to tell us the story.
It is just called The Creek Bar-because it is on one-if you drive by it during the day, you see what looks like an old wood building back in the trees, maybe used for storage- with a weed grown parking area in front-the paint is so worn that all you can read looks like it says reek Bar-looks like a place kids might visit on Halloween-there are a lot of funky little places like that off the beaten track here.
MrT5 did the same thing when he was TDY in the DC area-he was going to visit some places, maybe go to an antique store or two and buy some little souvenirs to bring home, etc-he ended making the turn too-he did find some stuff in a safer area after asking a fellow service member about a place to get stuff-that was around 1990...
I have that Live album-I made a CD of it from a record album belonging to a cousin-the quality is actually pretty good, comparatively speaking-now I’m going to have to dig it out to put in the 4x4...

When the cub was about 8, my 1st husband and I sold our 1st house in a burb and bought one in a weird little bedroom community outside the city. A few nights later after we had settled and had the stereo all rigged up we decided to get into a box of old psychedelic and heavy rock albums we hadn’t played in a long time. I poured some wine for us, saw that the cub was asleep in her room so we closed the door.
We were digging through the box setting out what we wanted to hear, and a flattened, ancient doobie fell out of an album cover-as parents of a little kid we hadn’t done any of that for years-who knows how old that doobie was-but we decided we could have a little fun now-so we cranked up the music, poured more wine, lit it and toked away-it was still some really dynamite s***-I still remember how much fun it was...
It is NOT TRUE that there are no good bands, songs being produced today! If you liked Chicago, listen to some of Thank You Scientist’s new album (just released this summer). There are some songs that really remind me of that multi instrument sound.
There is great stuff out there. I’ve been hypnotized by Red Hot Chili Pepper’s new stuff too, especially Dark Necessities.
There will ALWAYS be good music.
Since you mentioned 25 or 6 to 4, let us ponder the riddle that is that song. Even as a youngster I could tell it was about doing drugs. But... The band says it was about having to stay up all night WRITING SONGS ON DEMAND. My sons and I have listened to every word and seen how it could be either. (I still think it is drugs and the song writing is a good cover)

So maybe “Bell Bottom Blues” was also written that year. Best heartbreak song ever. Same album as Layla. Eric swooning in love with Gworge Harrison’s wife.

Naw, I haven’t been a yoot since the late sixties, which I swear I remember .. LOL
Funny thing about that. I’ve got a 12 year old who’s crazy about 60s - 70s era music. He’s into everything from Chuck Berry to ZZ Top. I’d like to say he got it from me, but I haven’t played much music around the house since before he was born.
He’d just hear the odd tune on TV or movies, then bug his mom to death until she bought it for him. Eventually he sorted out the source of all the stuff he liked and began zeroing in on music from that era. Little stinker now owns all of my old LPs ;-)

Bread had a great sound which gave them a good many hit records. “Baby, I’m a want you”
was a favorite back then. Just one of their many recordings.

Then, alas, we arrived to the age of famine and many of us just tuned out because of the ridiculous choice of music on the radio. “The Day the music died”
Growing up in the 50’s, mom always had the radio on. So many tunes heard over and again. And back then, television had Your Hit Parade which we saw every week. Patti Page, Doris Day, Perry Como, Andy Williams. The pre-fifty music was enjoyed as well and the old movie station at that time aired a lot of musical movies. Glenn Miller, Jo Stafford, Carmine Miranda were introduced to the music in me.
That being said, I'm doubtful that the heart-rending, soul-gripping guitar work on Layla was inspired by an old Persian myth.
But that's just me.
Regardless, it's my absolutely favorite blues/rock song of all time.
Have listened to it literally hundreds of times over the years and it's NEVER grown stale.
Of course Clapton was never the deity that some goofily claimed, but my God what an incredible talent !
