I’m 77 and have not lived a pampered life either. Would like to know the age of the people posting gleefully that us old folks will be dead soon. Wonder what they think of their own parents. Would also like to hear from them when they start approaching our age and the younger crowd treats them as a burden.

You ask a 1,000 people who have stood in line to get a free lunch and you think they’re going to be conservative?

The poster didn’t say in what town the picnic took place.

Worcester county maybe? Surprising. That is one of the more Republican parts of the state.

For some reason, a lot of people in Massachusetts think of Republicans as "them" -- the other side. You could already see some of that back in the Kennedy-Nixon years, and it's only gotten more pronounced over time.

The other thing about Massachusetts is that you never get that far away from Boston. And if you do -- the Connecticut Valley, the Berkshires, Provincetown, Nantucket -- it's just more Boston, only in vacation homes. It's not like in other states where the city and the countryside vote for opposite parties.

That state currently is like the 70s in CA. They do not have a huge illegal immigration problem and they draw tourist with their links to American History.

My recently departed aunt (age 92 at passing),a devout Catholic, was a die hard Rat supporter. When I tried to tell her about all the Rat policies and positions that are completely contrary to Christian (and Catholic) teaching she didn't care a bit. When asked why she insisted on supporting them she said "because they give me my Social Security".

In just about any age group, with a few notable exceptions of course,if you receive any kind of government check you're likely to vote Rat.

That thinking is pervasive.
Santa Clause government.

It’s Massachusetts. Don’t spend any effort to sway votes in Massachusetts. .. Or in Connecticut. The state he needs to win is Florida.

“The other thing about Massachusetts is that you never get that far away from Boston. “

That’s the geography of small states.

I was in Boston in 2014 for a few hours; the tour bus driver, a woman probably 70, was conservative and hated the Kennedys. She was just one of those always outvoted.

My mother in Massachusetts, age 85, is a confirmed, rock-ribbed Democrat. She has always voted Dem and always will.

She once solemnly intoned that, “Democrats are for the little guy and Republicans are for the rich.” She is firmly convinced of this mythology and cannot be dissuaded. God knows I’ve tried.

This is why Massachusett voters fiercely support the likes of Ted Kennedy, Bawney Fwank and Lieawatha Warren, despite all logic to the contrary. You cannot change their minds.

Luckily, there is still a sizeable portion of Patriots in the mix. People still go shooting on weekends at the various sportsmen’s clubs. Massachusetts came close to electing Jim Ogonowski over Nikki the Dunce Tsongas to the House a few years ago. All is not lost in the Bay State.

I’m not really sure if there was a point to even posting this. It’s a tautology...like saying “Hillary-supporters are backing Hillary”.

I don't recall Donald Trump saying ANYTHING about social security.

Oh, the libs continue to use it every election because it works, but no republican has ever "taken away yer social security check".

I’m from Malden, MA. Home of Ed Markey. I know many former city and state employees who are die hard Democrats. They took their pensions and moved to Florida. When they come up for the Summer. They stay at their cottages in New Hampshire. Now, what do Florida and New Hampshire have in common?
