Donald Trump says the 2016 election will be "rigged." He has even suggested, despite very little evidence of actual voter fraud in the United States, that it's the only way he might lose a state like Pennsylvania.
We shouldn't be surprised if this message catches on — if there is substantial questioning of an outcome in which he loses, especially in a close race. I laid out my case for why earlier this week.
And now, more polling data suggests this is fertile territory for Trump to plant seeds of doubt in case he loses. Trump backers this year, it turns out, are uniquely skeptical of the vote-counting process.
In new Pew poll, just 11 percent of Trump backers say they are "very" confident that the votes in the 2016 election will be counted accurately. Another 37 percent are "somewhat" confident, and half of the GOP nominee's supporters are either "not too" (31 percent) or "not at all" (19 percent) confident.
In contrast, 49 percent of Clinton supporters are "very" confident, and only 20 percent are either "not too" or "not at all" confident.
What's especially interesting about the Pew numbers is that they indicate the shoe was once on the other foot.
Back in 2004, it was Democratic voters who were more concerned about inaccurate vote counts. When Pew asked how confident they were that their own votes would be accurately counted — a more personal version of the previous question — 48 percent of Democrats said they were "very" confident, while 75 percent of Republicans were.
This was very likely the lingering effects of a contested 2000 presidential election — Florida, "hanging chads" and all that — which wound up going Republicans' way.
But even then, Democratic voters were more confident in the vote-counting process than Republicans are now. Today, even without a similar recent controversy for Republicans to point to, those numbers are 67 percent for Democrats to just 38 percent for Republicans.
So, to reiterate, even after a 2000 election in which many Democrats thought Florida election officials essentially miscounted votes and handed the presidency to George W. Bush, Democratic voters were still more confident about the vote-counting process than Trump voters are today.
Now, this doesn't mean that the vast majority of Trump backers are expecting a totally "rigged" election. It's possible that they think the inaccuracies would be too small to matter — and that the inaccuracies might not be deliberate. Miscounting votes is not the same thing as large-scale voter fraud.
But as I wrote earlier this week, other data does indicate that many Republicans believe there could be rather large-scale voter fraud. A majority of Wisconsin Republicans — 54 percent — said in 2014 that fraud of one type or another moves thousands of votes in the state in every election, despite a lack of evidence to back up that theory.
And with the 2016 GOP nominee pushing that idea hard, it seems quite possible to catch on.

I was a a poll watcher in my small town in 08 and 12 elections. My town is 90% plus conservative but wanted to make sure every effort was made to ensure the process at our level was fair. The best of my observation / knowledge it was. I won’t be this year due travel requirements. I do know others that will be there personally thus it will be done correctly.
Makes for a long day with just a few bathroom breaks and some drinks and snack bars but its doable. Isn’t a easy day even for a healthy young person unless you can form a 2 or more team to pull 2 hour shifts on election day.

During the Corzine era.....the pre-Hillary State Dept refused to accept passport apps from NJ b/c most of them were fraudulent.
Corzine had appointed a latino to head the place......nothing but fraud came out of there.
I’ve been advised to use your phone to photo your ballot after you’ve completed it showing your Trump vote and your voter number. Keep it for the Trump attorneys if Trump receives no votes or Hillary gets 110% of those registered. Weren’t there stories reported like that in 2012?

Here's a hint for Aaron Blake and the "oh so gullible" at the Washington Post: NO ONE is going to research obits to find out who's dead, then vote them. Too much effort, too much time - and in years back before most public records were on the internet - too obvious.
Fraud is DONE BY VOTING THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T SHOW UP TO VOTE.
"THE DEAD" VOTE IS AN ACCIDENTAL BYPRODUCT of that system of FRAUD. Count the dead vote and you get an idea of the extent of the fraud.
Also, racists as it might sound - voter fraud is traditionally done in black precincts - overseen by white elites.

Keep on your person the phone number of your state's Secy of State.....they are the ones that check into voting irregularities. NOTE: Since the last midterm, most Secy of State are Republicans.

(hat tip ex-texasredhead)---Freepers working on the campaign, please suggest this to the Trump staff---urge the Trump campaign staff to establish a “how to report voter fraud” hotline and do so ASAP.
Put the information in a Trump ad with how to document it and report the fraud that was witnessed or heard about. It would be worth the expense.....anyone with fraud to report, do so immediately.
Urge the Trump campaign staff to have a team of lawyers ready to document all reports of voter fraud. Video proof would also be quite helpful with date, time, names (if possible). Perhaps there are retired law enforcement all over the country willing to donate their time to this effort. Veteran volunteers would be very helpful as well.

As to the vote side: see if there is a way to demand a paper trail through the court system of the states. If the integrity check of the machines fails, ask for an order for paper ballots. Machine-only precincts have paper ballots in case of a power outage or hard drive crash.

And have polling places surveilled for Mexican tour buses or any other types of buses that pull up with any persons of interest that look out of place as well. Filmed footage ready to post on-air the night of the elections

Great info/preparation for the voting shenanigans. You KNOW they must have lots of DIRTY tricks up their sleeves....what with Hildebeast not even bothering to campaign, etc.
I hope Team Trump has a battalion lined up...of grassroots voter patrols, with an action plan (similar to ExTx’s) ready to roll out.
Sad that True the Vote and Catherine Englebrecht (??) have all but dropped off the planet. Their hard work and best practices are needed NOW, more than ever.

Yes, but the paper receipt is not counted. It can be printed out with any data, and not necessarily what you voted. Voter fraud needs to be made a capital crime with huge fines and long prison terms. That would slow it down.

The DOJ also told some states that they couldn’t lean up their voter lists by removing in a time and dead voters.
