The University of Mississippi’s marching band will no longer play any variation of the song “Dixie” – a tradition some seven decades old at football games and other sporting events.
The University's Athletic Department confirmed to Mississippi Today on Friday that the song, which was the unofficial anthem of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, will no longer be played at athletic events.

That’s depressing. Tradition changed because of a fake controversy over a flag.
What a shame. It can be quite beautiful. My high school choir sang an arrangement of it that was inspiring. Like Elvis we sang it with the Battle Hymn, But that was a long time ago in a galaxy far away.

Are you f***ing kidding me? Freeze finally gets the team’s s*** together and now is drafting the hell out of high school talent, and they can’t even play a song that represents the South because of some Yankee whiner douchebags?

Are you kidding? They are eliminating all of the vestiges of the old South because they WANT to recruit black athletes. The heritage of Ole’ Miss means nothing when it comes to recruiting black athletes. Ole’ Miss alumni would sell their souls for a competitive football team.
