Growing up with a pair of cats in a house with a long axis, carpeted 3/4 of its length, vinyl in the kitchen; the cats would chase each other from one end to the other a dozen or so times when young, maybe twice in succession as seniors. They would get a good running start on the carpets and hit the kitchen floor, reverse the direction they were facing and start running the other way while still sliding on the vinyl in the original direction; they would briefly run in place — very cartoony — before gaining traction and heading back toward the bedrooms.

Thanks for the memory :)

Ha, that reminds me. We had a Maine Coon cat that used to like to run across our bed in the middle of the night. I would get so mad. One night I jumped up and chased him out of the bedroom. Bedroom was carpet and right outside the door was the linoleum entry way to the apartment. I guess I was wearing socks for some reason. Yep, as soon as I hit the linoleum my feet went out from under me way up in the air and I landed with a crash on the floor. Can't believe I didn't break anything. I know the cat had to be laughing......

While living in the same apartment. Was cooking out on the grill on the balcony, which you access thru a sliding glass door from the kitchen which I would close everytime I went out to keep the smoke and bugs out. Well, several beverages later, while retrieving my steak from the grill I turned around and walked face first straight in to the sliding glass door. About knocked myself out and dropped my steak on the ground. Can't believe the glass didn't break as hard as I hit it.... There was a person downstairs across the way who watched the whole thing and shouted "Are you alright?" afterwards. I just waved and slunk back inside to make an icepack for my face......
