THEY’RE GENTLE IN THE RIGHT HANDS

THEY WERE TURNING THEIR LIFE AROUND

BAD OWNERS MAKE BAD PIT BULLS!!!

But the pit bull was turning his life around and was an aspiring rapper...

I don’t know if pits are evil. I do know that dogs can be trained to be that way. My dog got mauled by 6 hunting dogs 2 months ago. None of them were pits. He is fine now.

Pits are bred to have a strong prey instinct....

Fast small noisy moving object... and it can kick in overshadowing training and socialization...

That’s why Most Pits should never be around small children....

The prey instinct varies dog to dog and also during their life cycle....

Certain scents can trigger it as well..... Or cause them to hump your leg...

In other words, it's a mutt.

My friend is always quick to point out his dog is not a pit bull, it’s a Staffordshire Terrier. I say riiight. It’s a fricken pit. I have raised and trained retrievers for many years and I am always uneasy around that dog of his.

I’ve known several pits. The problem is that they are essentially big terriers and therefore tightly wound. Add to that the fact that they have huge and incredibly strong jaws. Plus once a pit gets hold of something, it is virtually impossible to make it let go. My SIL was taking care of her son’s bull terrier (a polite designation for basically the same dog) and Eli grabbed hold of their sweet old female golden lab. They had to drag the dogs into the shower and turn on cold water to get Eli to let go.

No they aren't. They are mostly bred for looks, just like every other dog breed.

Once upon a time fighting dogs were bred to withstand pain, to permit handling by strange humans, even when injured, and for size and strength. Beyond that, it was just behavioral conditioning.

You think a pit mauled that boy? Show me his UKC papers. Prove it's a pit. Or if you think it's a staffie, show me his AKC papers. Bet you money it was a mutt.

That is the difference. A pit, instinctively, does not release once it gets a hold of something.

On the other hand, on the rare occasion my basset hounds or chihuahuas snarl, it is brief, and we have moved on.

Our chihuahua has one tooth. LOL and weighs 5 pounds. He only makes little grunting sounds. He does bark occasionally. I’ve never heard him growl.

There are certain breeds of dogs that I do not trust, pits being just one of them. Most dogs like me and come up to get attention, pits don’t.
