I figure things have always been like they are now, probably a few more scumbags around now than a century ago, but I have no proof of that. Evil is real, don’t help the scumbags get their car out of a ditch and maybe they won’t be any more likely to kill you than they already were. Scumbags are scumbags whatever their pigmentation.
