(86 year old) Woman left behind at Methuen dialysis clinic after it closed

METHUEN, Mass. —An 86-year-old Massachusetts woman needed to be rescued by firefighters over the weekend after she was left behind at a dialysis clinic in Methuen that had closed for the day.

Fire Chief Scott Sullivan says rescuers came to the aid of Maureen Perry just before 4 p.m. Saturday. The Wilmington woman was taken for treatment to the Fresenius Dialysis Center, where she remained three hours after it closed.

Used to take my Blind Elderly Aunt to Dialysis three times a week. I would stay with her for the four Hours it took most of the time and the Staff were very diligent.

Turn away and people can Bleed to Death. The IV’s used, and they use two, are very large. Pull one out without applying enough pressure and the fountain of blood looks like it’s coming out of a Garden Hose.

I have no idea how this could happen unless the Woman was in a separate Room and there was a shift change of Staff while she was in there. Just a wild guess at best. Some heads will roll over this, or they should.

If left on the Machine that long the Woman could have died. Many People get severe painful leg cramping and worse.

The only blame for this goes to the dialysis facility, no matter what type of insurance that she had.

My best guess is staff was young, stupid and in a hurry to go out and party on Friday night. They did not pay attention. No way you just don’t see a woman sitting there.

I hear you. Totally unbelievable that such a thing could happen. I worked for a cleaning service that cleaned a dialysis clinic and we couldn't get within fifty feet of the treatment area if there were still a patient recieving treatment. Just incomprehensible that such a thing could happen. Hope the woman has a good lawyer.

I was in a doctors office near the end of the day and went into the bathroom to change back into my clothes from that smock and when I came out there was no one there..... I let myself out.
I think Dr Welby would never forget a patient.
