Open Memo To Donald Trump

OPEN MEMO TO DONALD TRUMP:

The media is filled with speculation that your campaign is sinking. But I believe that inherent in Hillary’s rise are the seeds of her own destruction and of your eventual election.

As Hillary — with the aid of a hopelessly biased media — struggles to convince people that you cannot win and that your candidacy is unworthy of serious consideration, she will swing the focus away from you and onto herself. If Donald Trump cannot win and won’t be the next president, who cares what his shortcomings are? How does he pose a danger?

On the other hand, the more it looks like Hillary will win, the more her own scandals and cover-ups. The spotlight will shift to Hillary Clinton — warts and all.

Today’s media is incapable of focusing on more than one thing at a time. In this election, the spotlight will either be on you or on Hillary. As the new kid, it’s on you.

Hillary is making every attempt to marginalize you and to make it seem unthinkable that you could be elected.

But carry it through to its end product: If Trump won’t win, who cares what he says? Who worried about the gaffes? He’s not going to be president. So media and voters focus on the person they think will be the next president — Hillary Rodham Clinton.

And they run screaming.

It is only in Donald Trump’s shadow that Hillary can survive. My wife Eileen and I make this point in our new book: Armageddon: How Trump Can Beat Hillary.

She can’t handle the focus. The more people examine her record, her scandals, her lies, her flip-flops and her contradictions, the more they will see how manifestly dishonest she is.

Then, chastened, their attention will drift back to you. “Give Donald another look” will become the de facto campaign message now that they have seen how bad Hillary really is.

Were Hillary to mount her strategy of marginalization later in the process, it might have worked. But she peaked too soon. She cannot handle the focus that will come her way in September and October.

The history of presidential elections confirms that this last minute surge can happen:

• Obama came from behind in 2012 propelled by Sandy and by Chris Christie.

• George H.W. Bush came on strong from behind in 1988 and passed Clinton on the weekend before the election. It was only the bogus announcement by the special prosecutor that he was going to indict Cap Weinberger that swung it back in Bill’s favor (Bill has told me he agrees with this analysis)

• George W. Bush lost the last debate and Kerry came on strong in 2004 after winning the third debate. But he overplayed his hand by stressing the “discovery” of an unguarded weapons dump in Iraq that turned out to pre-date the invasion. It blew up in his face and cost the election.

These kinds of last minute twists and turns are the norm and in a race with two candidates with high negatives, it is especially so.

Hillary is peaking way too soon.

Hillary is peaking way too soon.

If a 3-5 point lead is peaking then she'll lose by the same margin.

“George H.W. Bush came on strong from behind in 1988 and passed Clinton on the weekend before the election.”

Morris is now writing fiction.

Yep, considering that was Dukakis and not Clinton.

Dick is grasping at straws if you ask me. Hillary and Trump will not have peaks from here on out. The least unpopular candidate will win. Donald needs to take the high and optimistic road from here to Election Day. He can win this.
Oh yeah, wouldn’t hurt to buy a few minutes of airtime either.

An open letter reply to ‘Dick’ Morris:

I have followed you for years, as the Clintons have caused hell and destruction across this Country, and all you have done is be as big if not bigger liar than she is...

So Bill knocked the hell out of you, you deserved it, I can't stand the Clintons or anyone who has anything to do with them, you included, but I wanted to see if you changed so I bought your book, what a joke, I have all that information in my Clinton file and more...all you wanted was 5 minutes of fame and to think you were important, which your not...I want a refund plus the 3 hours it took me to read it, I charge $100.00 an hour, and I expect you will comply, I'm sure you don't want me to go on Barnes and Noble and let the readers know how bad that book really is!!!

Tootle along, your old, your thoughts are old, you lie and your nothing but a Clinton puppet and that is all you will ever be!

A disgusted reader...

Hence the reason for this drivel.

If nothing else, Morris’ comments are entertaining. If you don’t like him, why bother reading his opinions? As for resurrecting “toe sucking” that’s about as old and tired as the lib meme of Gingrich and his “baggage.”

With the short attention span of Americans, Trump feels buying airtime at this point would be wasteful...he’ll have plenty of airtime nearer the election date, I promise...

The October Attack, not surprise.....

Ah, yes. I distinctly remember hearing from many & reading about all the voters who switched votes solely because of the Weinberger controversy...(that only Dick Morris remembers).

your impeccably smart:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caspar_Weinberger
Prosecutors brought an additional indictment four days before the 1992 presidential election. This was controversial because it cited a Weinberger diary entry contradicting a claim made by President George H.W. Bush. Republicans claimed that it contributed to President Bush’s defeat

Some of you are so quick to seek to put down Morris--I guess because of his former association with the Clintons;--you are missing the one clearly valid point that he does make; although I think that he is in fact slightly off target.

It is not so much anything that Hillary herself has done; but the all out media attack on Donald Trump, this month, will indeed peak, just from the overwhelming display of bias, long before November.

Just by standing firmly behind our candidate, remaining calm, persistent & unruffled by the assault, we will within a few weeks make it very clear that the media is off on a tangent. They cannot keep this up, with the same intensity for over 2 1/2 months--as the whole thing is based on nothing but misrepresentations of actual events, as well as concoctions of things which never even happened.

It is not easy to maintain a frenzied attack on people who disagree with you, with so little actual substance to what you allege.

your impeccably smart:

Anyone who thinks the Weinberger issue cost GHWB the election desperately needs to get out of DC every so often.

And I'm smart enough to know it is "you're".

I really think these ridiculously biased polls will eventually dampen not Trump turnout but the bitch’s. Why get on the bus and ride around to all of those different polling places if the bitch has it in the bag?

Very sloppy, Dick.

Michael Dukakis, of tank commander fame, was the Democrat candidate in 1988.

As for 1992, the question is, did the bogus indictment of Caspar Weinberger four days before the election swing it? Morris is claiming BJ agrees that it did.

I agree with you. The media cannot keep up this frenzied intensity for the next 2.5 months. They have told us Trump is done. Okay. Puff pieces about Hillary will grow old quickly. Voters will tune out. Media will need fresh meat.
