Rio Hits Competition Low on Friday (NBC PANIC: RATINGS HIT LOW... )

The Rio Olympics wrapped its first full week of competition on Friday night with more Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and a primetime kickoff for track and field.

Fast-affiliate ratings give NBC's primetime showing for the games, between 8 and 11 p.m., 23.9 million viewers and a 6.3 rating among adults 18-49. That's down from the night before and the lowest showing for a competitive night to date, but that's to be expected, given the lineup and Friday's status as a typically slower night for TV viewers. (The same Friday four years ago in London averaged 26.9 million viewers and an 8.1 rating in the key demo.)

Typically people can't avoid watching a train wreck, but this may be the exception.

I’m still happy about how well our athletes have been performing.

Nice to see we can still lead the world in some respects...and the MSM doesn’t hate us for it.

Could it be that several folks do not like the lies being spread by NBC News on the political front ad they are starting to tune out?

“and the MSM doesn’t hate us for it.”

The games are not over yet. Once the spotlight is off the train wreck in Rio, they will start to pick at what is left. NBC has been doing its best to mask what they could of a terrible venue, but one of our swimmers being held up at gun point was just too much to mask, just like the green water in the diving and syncro pools.

Rowers getting sick after getting capsized by storms in the bay and I have yet to see any coverage of any whitewater. Were they all kidnapped?

I watched a good part of the first week Primetime coverage. I don’t know as I haven’t watched the Olympics as much as I have this time in years, but is it normal to only focus on a couple sports? Basically the evening coverage was swimming and gymnastics with some beach volleyball thrown in. There are so many other sports, and I know some are shown during the day, but people can’t always watch then. I was hoping in the evening they would show some other things or more highlights of other things like water polo, rowing, bicycling, etc. I don’t know. Maybe this is standard, but that’s just my observation. Sometimes it got boring.

Please tell me that my boycott of NBC is working!

Please tell me NBC is filing for bankruptcy!

Were they all kidnapped?

No, you just missed it.

I'm not a fan of the sport so I can't say what classes or divisions were shown, but I have watched some 2 man events.

Between the Nike commercial touting a “trans” runner of some type and the University of Phoenix commercial showing lesbians embracing, I refuse to watch with my children anywhere in the vicinity of the TV.

Life is too short for excessive commercials, tape delays, “sports” decided by judges, and “up close and personal”s.

Years from now we’ll see stories about how the athletes who competed in the Rio Olympics have developed Agent Orange-like maladies and sicknesses.

I’ve seen enough beach volleyball over the last week to last a lifetime.

No boxing at all.

What gives?

"No boxing at all.

I've seen some men's boxing late at night.
Not much, but some.
I've also seen a little snippet of women's judo.
Only the final gold medal round where a American lady won
the gold. I've seen women's springboard and platform diving.
I've seen women's soccer and handball and beach volley ball.
I've seen women's swimming.
Believe you me, if it was women's boxing, you would see it!

I actually saw a “Tolerance Moment” on NBC designed to cow and shame white people. It may have been called an “Acceptance Moment”.

It was pure, raw propaganda.

I think it was centered around that Muslim fencer who hates white people and America.

We get to see only the sports that we do well in.

I used to look forward to the Olympics - not any more as it has become another PC outlet.

Every time I see Bob Costas I cringe.

Oh and the hitlery ads are unbearable to watch!... I always switch channels when the demon from hell comes on! Movies without commercials are better to watch for health reasons!

The gunky diving and water polo pools are disgusting! The athletes should've banded together and refused to participate until it was cleaned up.

"Don't worry about the green sludge, it's not a danger to swim in algae" How stupid!
