Every album up to and including the black album is great. Then they went into Alternica for a while which what everyone was doing. Garage Inc. might be the best from that era.
Some kind of monster is simply cringe inducing. Kirk had a line about not having solos, he was like ‘that is what everyone is doing, it will cast the album from this era.’ St. Anger sounds like it was recorded redlined in a dumpster with a drum sound like hitting garbage cans with no Metallica solos.
