Khan was making an ahistorical argument (a logical fallacy by the way) that IF Trump were president when he and his wife were immigrating to America they would have been denied entry and therefore the US would have been denied a good decent family and a war hero. It’s a convoluted argument to say the least.
They also mischaracterized Trumps immigration policy.
The fact that they were on the stage at all was the Dems making the case that “see, Muslims are good and their sons are heroes” .... which might be true in one case but is not true in every case so it is an illogical point. But it is good propaganda. People fall for this simplistic stuff, especially if it is loaded with pathos.
They could have been put up on stage a Latino family whose son had been killed in Iraq to make the same mischaracterization about Trump’s immigration policy.

But I don’t parade that around or use it for political points.
