Trump to Pence: “Leave Hillary to Me”
Ed Klein ^ | 7/26/2016 | Ed Klein

Despite the rocky start to the Democratic National Convention, bookies are making the Hillary-Kaine ticket the odds-on favorite over the Trump-Pence ticket.

But the smart money may be as wrong about the U.S. presidential election as it was about Britain’s referendum on the European Union, in which the bookies gave the Remain camp an 82 percent chance of victory.

Mike Pence is a favorite among evangelicals and other conservatives, and he can do Trump a world of good in turning out the Republican base on Election Day.

Still, when Trump approached Pence about becoming his running mate, the Indiana governor didn’t jump at the chance. In fact, he expressed some reservations about whether he was Trump’s ideal choice for the number-two spot.

According to my sources, Pence told Trump: “There’s something you ought to know about me. Traditionally, the running mate is assigned the job of attacking the presidential nominee of the other party. But I took a pledge back in 1991—you might call it a conversion—that negative campaigning is wrong. So, I’m not going to go negative on Hillary. Do you still want me as your vice president?”

And again according to my sources, Trump looked at Pence and said with Trumpian relish: “Don’t worry—leave Hillary to me.”

So the bookies better take another look at the race, for if anyone can stop Hillary, it’s Donald Trump.

The other night Geraldo Rivera and Hannity got into a discussion of the practice of “ranking” - I seem to recall this from my days at the university fifty years ago - sort of a verbal boxing match which the guys from New York City used to enjoy all the time - taking turns seeing who could out-insult the other - surprising and a bit disturbing for those of us tender-hearted types from Philadelphia, but the New Yorkers loved it - I think Trump really enjoys the back and forth insults, can outlast Hillary in any such exchange, and eventually will get her to the point of real exasperation in a fight he’s looking forward to.....

“I just wish Trump would forget about Bloomberg and the faux Native American woman etc and leave the kids’ table residents to his surrogates and focus like a laser on Obama and HRC.”

Just what the hell do you think he is doing?

Obama pardons her before he leaves office.

Can't be pardoned unless convicted and found guilty. So President Trump enters the White House, and Hillary is then charged, convicted and found guilty... and jailed. Too late for Obama to do anything about it, as a former president he can't pardon her.

Couldn’t they rush through a conviction in December?

During the primaries Trump was the bookies’ underdog for almost the entire primaries and look at how that turned out.

When I was a very young man, my boxing coach taught me that: I trained hard, your opponent trained hard. You’re strong, he’s strong. You know how to box, he knows how to box. Get an edge. . .Piss him off and don’t let him piss you off.

Similar thing in “The Art of War” I think - something like “if your opponent is irritable, anger him”.......

Not so!

Nixon was pardoned without being tried.

He went off on Bloomberg and Warren the other day. They aren’t worth the precious airtime.

“Now, THEREFORE, I, GERALD R. FORD, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974.”

I believe you to be correct. I bet that Trump has studied that excellent book in depth.

Except WHERE is he?

Why is he going after everyone BUT her?

I mean hitting her HARD. This was the MAIN THING so many of us have been waiting for....where is thus big attack Hillary narrative?

Am I just being too impatient? I thought ok after the convention...then he went right back to Coo Coo ville with the National Enquirer. Then this past week he’s announcing plans to raise money to defeat guys in their home state ejections THAT HE ALREADY DEFEATED. But I get those requests to donate to his campaign all the time? Why is he worried about other elections out if revenge and not putting that effort forth to get that money in his own campaign? Does he know how much money the Hillary machine has?

If his campaign folks read here, please tell him to FOCUS!

My God there’s so much crap on Hillary, it could keep a person busy for 3 lifetimes.
