Ted Cruz must have a strategy of dividing the Republican Party (with full support of the Republican Oligarchs behind the scenes) to make sure Hillary wins because of the division. Somehow they are determining that Trump is not going to run again in 2020 and Cruz will then seek the nomination.
With the absolute mess that Hillary will make, Cruz will be seen as the only solution by the conservative side. Good strategy, but not good for the country.
The 80% - 90% of the party behind Trump will never forgive Ted if Trump loses to Hillary. His national career is over. The best he could have hoped for was playing nice with Trump and earning a spot in a future administration. The smirkin’ weasel will never live this down.

On the website that many of the Cruz supporters fled to when they bailed on Free Republic they are trying to frame it as some sort of ‘dark day in history when a man says “vote your conscience” and “vote for the Constitution” and gets booed off the stage. Cruz IS a very intelligent man, AND he is a lawyer. I have to wonder if he deliberately anticipated this response (the booing), even going so far as planning in advance to have Heidi hurriedly rushed out, as if she were in some kind of danger. If indeed he thought this all through, it truly is genius, but he’s using his God given blessing of that kind of intelligence for the exclusive purpose of political self promotion; absolute narcissism. He would’ve been Obama version 2.

I am going with the signals from his good friend, Mike Lee, who cited Cruz held unrelenting anger over Trump’s attack on Heidi. I think Cruz doesn’t want to admit his surrogates started it and he thinks it makes him more manly.
Big whoop. He lost a golden chance to widen his brand. That is not ideology, that is hubris. Ideology is like the formulas of the left. It postulates a simple saving truth that if adhered to will save the future. Garry Johnson is closer than Levin to that standard.
Levin is like many, he is unconvinced that Trump is principled and not a Nixonian opportunist.
I think Trump is unprincipled and Nixonian.
And we should STILL unite and beat the far worse evil of a Hillary C. presidency.

Hillary might “win” her first term, but she will steal the second term. It is an 8 year proposition. Look at her IT staff - they know how to follow unlawful orders, and plead the 5th as they manipulate polls. She is well versed on impeachment, up close and personal for Nixon and Bill, and knows how to wiggle off any impeachment (which would be assured by the second term). She will know how to skate any “criminal intent” and is well known at hiding or shredding the evidence or eliminating (cough) any human obstacles. If Hillary wins, we will have 16 years of decline and a generation and a half of very bad SCOTUS decisions. Good job Ted! There will be nothing left to fix and no ability to rebuild.
That goes without saying.
But it is surprising this cycle. Having been here for about 18 years, I have seen the feeling when it is a RINO running and in that instance there is an accepted amount of withdrawal allowed within our site culture.
In this case, Trump has had some reactionary things he has said that has gained loyalty beyond any conservative dogma. This shows how fed up we are as a site and how fed up non-Marxists Americans are in general.
This is something I wrote about a while back, and your theory validates mine, here’s why:
You have identified what are most likely Cruz’ motivations now that Trump has beaten him like a red headed stepchild, and is in fact, the GOP nominee. Remember that Cruz and his cult followers ALL persist in painting the Cuban-Canadian import as “The Next Reagan” and Cruz was never bashful about drawing comparisons between our 40th President and himself.
Cruz is attempting to make history repeat itself, and this year (2016) is in his mind, just like 1976 when the Gipper fell short of delegates at the GOP convention that year, and President Gerald Ford prevailed.
As we all know, the ‘RAT Jimmy Carter won the election, which began 4 of the most incompetent and destructive years in America’s history pre-Obama, and that led to the conservative tidal wave which was Ronald Reagan in 1980.
This is all about Cruz attempting to live out his life as a crypto-fantasy of a reincarnated Reagan. But unlike Cruz, Reagan ran a clean campaign, didn’t run his rallies like religious tent revivals, and did not preach to the crowds about the necessity to “raise up and energize the Body of Christ” like Elmer Gantry.
Cruz’ strategy is to do everything possible to undermine Donald Trump, he is a closet #NEVERTRUMPER as are many of his supporters, and it is very likely that he believes that 4 years of Hillary Rotten Criminal would pave the way for his triumphant victory in 2020, exactly 40 years after the Reagan landslide, and some students of Biblical history will tell you that 40 years is considered a generation which to Cruz would indicate some sort of Divine seal of approval.
This is what happens when a candidate begins to believe their own hype, and mixes politics with religion as Cruz has done. It is a toxic and unhealthy mix. Unfortunately, he came to believe all of the insane spiritual propaganda spewed forth by his wacko-Daddio, and of course there was the mad Mormon prophet of the airwaves Glenn Beck and his Cheeto circus, all of them blabbering about Cruz being ‘anointed’, but what they all missed is that Cruz was never ‘anointed’, he was *appointed* to be smacked down, humbled and laid low by the Almighty for exploiting and using Him as a cheap campaign prop.
God doesn’t take lightly to that. Cruz’ crash and burn proves it.
We all knew Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was a friend of ours, and Ted Cruz is NO Ronald Reagan.
BRAVO !
Cruz will NEVER be president and probably shan’t be re-elected to the Senate in ‘18.
If Trump was assassinated, as president, Pence would become president; NO DAMNED WAY would that moron Ted, become president!
