We lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, back in the 1960’s. All our yards had lemon and grapefruit trees. No pomegranate or figs. Lemons were huge - twice the size we buy in the store now and full of juice.
If I recall, much of the area you lived in had been orchards. Lots of great citrus - mmm.
