Lost My Cat

Posted on 07/15/2016 7:07:29 AM PDT by Aggie65

Today, I had to have my 16 yr old cat put to sleep. She was not eating, or drinking, and could not climb kitty steps. She could not control her bladder. Last night is the first night she has not gotten on my chest when I went to sleep. She had hidden herself, and my wife could not find her to bring her to me. At the Vet office to day, she could not raise up on my chest even when I laid back at a 45 degree angle. I told her that she would be able to play with her litter mate who died of cancer in 2008 (after hurricane Ike). Thank for letting me remember her.

I came home after work day before yesterday to find my 14 year old yellow lab stone cold on the floor. He was surrendered at the animal shelter in my county back in September of last year. He was completely deaf and mostly blind, but I didn’t care. I went and rescued him anyway. He had 9 good months left in him. I will sorely miss him.

Is it? My cat has 8 years left?!?! :(

I never had a cat before and had no real idea of the life span.

You have lost a best buddy and my heart breaks for you and the wife.

But I bet you gave that cat some home. I bet you are two warm hearted, great people.

I have a little buddy of my own and they are great.

Tought part with animals is they become like children but they dont outlive us like children :(

Yes. Count on 15 years for a healthy cat.

God bless you Aggie65. I’m in the same boat....mine is about 20 years old and she’s always been a house cat. She seems blind and deaf, won’t jump on my puter table and head butt me whilst I type, won’t use the litter box. I’ve put off taking her to the vet because I know I won’t be bringing her home. I feel so bad for you and I pray for comfort for you.

Well that just ####ed up my whole day. I thought it was like the 20s.

Better to know ahead of time.

It’s always hard to loose a pet that has become a member of the family.

After her litter mate died in 2008, in Oct we found another cat (born in July) and we still have him. He is partial to my wife. Mariah was very unhappy with him, she wanted her sister, but after about two weeks, they could tolerate each other, but occasionally we would find a scratch mark on either kitty.

Sorry for your loss. It is always hard to let go of a special friend. More of a dog person, but grand kids have a cat and it is spoiled beyond belief. I had a really great cat when I was younger. It was an alley cat and one day decided to move on. I was really upset. Time heals and you will have the memories of your special friend.

Something similar happened to both my husband and myself some years back. We had lost our 12 year old dog, and a week or so later we were both in the den and heard his license and rabies tags jingling as he ran down the hall into the den where we were sitting, which fazed neither of us for a few minutes, until we both realized at the same time he was no longer with us, and we looked at each other in amazement. We were in wonderment and have never been able to logically explain that.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your cat. I pray that we will one day be reunited with our lost cats. I believe that they have souls, because God would not create such a loving creature as a cat, without giving them a soul.

I can tell that you really loved your cat.I’m sure she had a grand life with you and she would thank you now if she could.

I feel SO guilty only having one cat. Feel he could use the company.

Wife does most of the taking care of and said just one.

I am glad at least that you have another cat to give you comofort right now.

Sorry for your loss. I know from experience that it won’t be easy but there are lots of replacements waiting for you to come and see them at your local animal shelter. Be strong.

It’s never easy. Remember you were lucky to have her, and she was lucky that you loved and cared for her. Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to lose a furry friend whom you have come to love and who occupies a special place in your heart.

Bless you for caring so much.
