People tend to get their opinions from narratives. These echo chambers lead them to believe they are in the informed majority. So they parrot what they hear and are shocked to discover that people disagree.

He could have kept his stupid mouth shut, an opportunity too few people too infrequently avail themselves of. I still believe he was expressing a personal preference, not relaying customers’ concerns.

So...the restaurant owner has cop hating patrons & he sided with them rather than tell them to take their business elsewhere because he respects the police? Was that it?

One thing is certain from this breaking news story from Tom Brokjaw:

It seems that The luckless owners of the Lucky Teriyaki told local law enforcement that they were no longer welcome and would not be served and that was the beginning of the end of their American dream.
As I said, he apparently made the wrong choice. But if he is to be believed, he didn’t put himself in the predicament. His bigoted customers did.
He made a decision — a bad one, it turns out — and now he gets to pay the consequences.
Very possible. Notice that I prefaced my remarks with “If the owner is telling the truth ...”.
I would not trust the food for anyone, and it probably was bing tainted in ways even before!
One does not suddenly have such dislike of some people - this guy likely has a serious dislike of many people but big desire for money so likely phony to many all along!
Any cop that eats there now is a fool. I gaurantee you that his/her food will be well doctored and seasoned by the time he/she gets it.It is best to stay away from where you are not wanted.
They’ll pay a high price for their stupidity. I hope no one eats there any more.
