I got 29625 (top 0>19%).

They said that I was “Shakespeare”and would even be capable of making up new words that could go in the English dictionary!!!!

Of course, I DO make up new words and phrases—right here on FR!

With the top score that I have seen posted being 30500, followed by 30325 then 30150, it appears that at the top scores are valued at 175 BUT 175*50=8750 and 30500/50=610 so I'd guess that there is a sliding scale working here somewhere. Translation, no clue!

Me, too! Funny, a lot of Shakespeares here on FreeRepublic, how is this possible?

You recall that old chestnut about a million monkeys sitting before typewriters eventually coming up with "Hamlet"?

Well, would you care to share some bananas?

30,325+

;>)

In Shakespeare’s time spelling wasn’t so uniform; more individual freedom. :-)

I guess I was born five hundred years too late.

Since I was bored I put put on my digital trench coat and slunk on down to the DU.

Lookey at what I found.

Overall, they are a LOT smarter over there than us Neanderthals over here.

They have some really sharp people, English PhDs, no less, posting scores of 37,000 to 42,000. :-)

I'm too lazy to do a proper regression and curve fit for the normal distribution from the results posted here, but the mathematical intuition and my gut from taking the test suggests to me that the highest possible score tops out at somewhere in the 32 -34,000 range.

DU vocabulary scoring seems to have much in common with Democrat Party vote counting

You know there’s no single word to describe a person having a large vocabulary. That’s pretty funny actually.

Perfect illustration of mere brain “smarts” are worthless (or even harmful!) without a moral compass, sound principles and good ol’ motherwit.

The test they used on DU is completely different. The “test” gives you two pages of words and ask you to check the one you know.

So, as usual, they can make outrageous claims without the need to prove them.
