Russia's next generation hypersonic stealth nuclear bomber could fly by 2020, it has been claimed.
Military bosses claim the engine for the craft has already been tested, and a prototype could take to the air in six years.
It would be able to travel anywhere in the world in two hours and drop a devastating nuclear warhead before returning to base, it is claimed.

That will come in handy for us when we’re both on the same side in World War IV.
I’m not sure I see the advantage over a land or sea-based ICBM.

If anyone remains alive after WW III...
Why do they get to have all the fun?

IDK. Possibly the stealthier and faster way to deliver the ‘package’. I would guess it would be less likely to be shot down?
A bomber can always be recalled and/or carry a mix of nuke/conventional weapons allowing for a change of mission in flight. Can’t do that with an ICBM.

You are right, I didn’t think of that.
P.S. I like your tagline!
An ICBM will deliver its weapon less than 30 minutes from launch. One would hope a decision to actually launch a nuclear strike would be made with a bit more deliberation than ordering lunch and changing your mind to go with a tuna on rye instead of chicken salad.
Or if the pilot/copilot accidentally engage the wrong projectile (Although I would think the nuke would have several elaborate/fail safe procedures).
Truly a revolutionary weapon system that not only packs a punch but masters time travel as well. The prototype won’t be ready until 2022 but it will fly by 2020!
Do they still use the Red Star insignia?

Yes, see photo.
And if anyone thinks that this thing will actually fly by 2020 then you are wildly optimistic.
Just in time for the battle at the end of the seven years..
What would happen (If the aircraft eventually physically materializes) if you shoot it down over your own/allied territory? Could it be designed to detonate the nuke if the aircraft is damaged by the enemy?
Wow, have the Russians finally completed the old Nazi project, the Antipodal Bomber, aka “Silverbird?”
Or if the pilot/copilot accidentally engage the wrong projectile (Although I would think the nuke would have several elaborate/fail safe procedures).
Or the time in 1961 when a B52 on routine patrol carrying 2 H-bombs broke up in mid-flight over North Carolina and the failsafes on the bombs came oh-so close to not working.

Question is, will it work against an invading superior tech alien race?
