The problem is the verb tense. As written, the sentence implied that "(she was) standing" and "located (her body)" happened at the same time.

We might say, "About 400 feet below the point where she had been standing, park rangers located her body."

I’m sure she was a nice young lady. One who grew up in a flat state. What is the elevation range in a great deal of Florida, something like 13 feet?
