Yep. Here I am in front of a screen, decrying that so many people spend too much time in front of a screen.

Do they get points for that?

I know, huh. I can’t claim to keep up with it. It’s a good thing we have pets. They introduce reality into a kid’s life on a daily basis— and it needs to be cleaned out of the litter box.

Sounds like a variation on geocaching.

Yup. Found out about it today, as we had a suspicious car driving up and down the street, then one kid got out, and came up to my house.

I didn't get out quick enough to catch him, but neighbors were out, and we managed to flag down a passing police officer. The car had just come back by, and the officer gave chase. Talked to the officer afterwards. The kids were scared, contrite, and apologetic about coming on the property, but they showed them the app and said they were having trouble locating a spot on the street.

Officers had told them to ask first before going onto private property.

LOL! Point taken and understood. However, as long as you are not glued to your screen or living like a shut-in, that’s OK.

While I may spend an hour or two online every day, it does not consume me or my time, nor do I need a phone app to motivate me to go outside and enjoy the world around me. That was the point of my post.

ok.

Personally, i really do spend too much time in front of the screen and avoiding tasks. I need to set some sensible limits and hold to them.

How does one ‘stumble’ on a body that is ‘floating’ in the river?

(summer intern writing article?)

What is Pokémon Go and why is everybody talking about it?

This new Pokémon game is bringing augmented reality mainstream.

I found my daughter -- who's home from college and has been spending most of it laying around the house -- about a mile up the mountain notch from the house. I asked her what she was up to and she told me: "You would be disappointed if you knew..." But after finding out she was playing this game, not so much. Anything that gets her off the couch and outside is a good thing.
