What a bunch of crap. This is a complete Federalist point of view. Because hey, if we get rid of all those nasty, hard to control states and only have eight "states", things will be so much easier to control.

I think that you err on your use of "Federalist" in this case. The common usage of "Federalist" is adherence to the 'originalist' interpretation deriving from the US Constitution. Thus, it means less power to the National Government and more to the various State Governments. My personal vote would be to substitute "Big Government" as more accurate and descriptive.

I agree completely, I was being lazy but didn’t think anyone would pick up on it.

I do NOT think there should be no Federal Government, which was the argument in the “Federalist Papers”, and a good one.

I believe there should be a balance between State and Federal government.

These tools who wrote this obviously think the concept of a State government is old and outdated. Everything should be run from a MegaFederal government, in their eyes. It is why they like the idea of the UN and EU.
