Trump Recycles Clinton’s Trade Policies
Conservative Review ^ | June 28, 2016 | Amanda Carpenter

It was fitting that Donald Trump appeared to be standing in front of a mess of commingled recycled trash while he delivered his trade policy speech. Because his plan appears mostly recycled from the platform of Hillary Clinton.

That’s right. When it comes to trade, it largely doesn’t matter who the voters elect. Both the presumptive GOP presidential nominee and the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee are nearly identical.

Here is the full text of Trump’s speech, delivered Tuesday. Here is the trade plan Clinton released last April.

Trump outlined seven points in his trade speech on Tuesday that mirror several points made by Clinton months ago.

For example, Trump pledged to “renegotiate” NAFTA. So has Clinton.

... Trump and Clinton are largely indistinguishable when it comes to trade policy, if you take them at their word.

Trump pledged to take aggressive action against China, which includes cracking down on currency manipulation. So has Clinton.

Trump threatened to use “every tool under American and international law to end these abuses” including the use of tariffs. So has Clinton. Specifically, Clinton has said she will “take on foreign countries that keep their goods artificially cheap by manipulating their currencies, and expand our toolbox to include effective new remedies to respond, such as duties, tariffs, or other measures.”

Michael Cohen, executive VP of the Trump Organization and Trump special counsel tweeted that a new poll shows Trump leading Clinton on the issue of national security and that voters find Trump more “honest and straightforward.” Cohen also accused Hillary of selling uranium to Russia through the Clinton Foundation....her “faux charity”.....

The NYT report WRT the sell-off of strategic US uranium assets noted that the uranium investors also donated to the Clinton Foundation:

<><> Canadian Frank Giustra—globe-trotting pal of Bill-—donated $31.3 million and a pledge for $100 million more to the Clinton Foundation. Canadian-based Giustra built a company that later merged with Uranium One. Seems to have facilitated the uranium sell-off.

<><> Canadian Ian Telfer—donated $2.35 million to the Clinton Foundation. Mining investor who was chairman of Uranium One when an arm of the Russian government, Rosatom, acquired it.

<><>Paul Reynolds—donated $1 million to $5 million to the Clinton Foundation Adviser on 2007 UrAsia-Uranium One merger. Later helped raise $260 million for the company.

<><>Frank Holmes-—donated $250,000 to $500,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Chief Executive of U.S. Global Investors Inc., which held $4.7 million in Uranium One shares in the first quarter of 2011.

<><> Canadian Neil Woodyer-—Founded Endeavour Mining with Giustra—donated $50,000 to $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Adviser to Uranium One.

<><> GMP Securities Ltd.-—Donating portion of profits to the Clinton Foundation. Worked on debt issue that raised $260 million for Uranium One. (could also be the money-laundering apparat)

===========================================

As the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation from Canada (Giustra's home base).

The Uranium One chairman used his Canadian family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million. Those contributions were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. Other people with ties to the company made donations, as well.

And shortly after the Russians announced their intention to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Mr. Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock.

At the time, both Rosatom and the United States government made promises intended to ease concerns about ceding control of company assets to the Russians. Those promises have been repeatedly broken, records show. (hat tip amorphous)

What a joke....Bubba signed NAFTA into law. And Hillary was for TPP or whatever the hell it is.

Did she say ANYTHING about trade when she ran against Obama?

This is a ‘Through the Looking Glass’ explanation of trade, economics, and Trump’s position. I made the mistake of reading this piece before checking out who the author was. Amanda Carpenter, speechwriter for Ted Cruz. B.A., Ball State, Communication Studies, 2005. Yeah, I’m thinking the comprehension problem might not be on my end.

I wonder... would we be talking about renegotiating trade agreements if Trump didn’t campaign on it and open it up as a campaign issue to begin with??

Could it be, I mean, just a wild shot in the dark here, that Her Hillaryness might be copying... Trump?? Sanders??? Both???!

Clinton said that in 2008.....8 years ago....and it was one thing that Obama and she agreed on during their debates.

But here we are...8 years later and "0" has been renegotiated. So it was a line of cr**.

Trump will do it for real.

FYI I am NOT a Never Trump troll. I am absolutely supporting Trump, although I did vote for Cruz in my state primary. But Cruz lost my support when he blamed the Chicago riot on Trump, and because he has violated his pledge by refusing to support Trump after he won the requisite number of delegates.

Check my past posts if you don't believe me.

I posted this because I wanted to see the responses it would generate. Fortunately, you are the only one dumb enough to post an accusatory post attacking me. I figured there might be one, and guess what? You are IT!!

Stupid newbie.
