So sad. Seems like just yesterday she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. Legendary basketball coach and seemed to be a genuinely cool lady.

Many happy memories of watching Pat Summit and her Lady Vols team here in Knoxville. Truly the greatest coach I’ve known , and
One of the three local Goddesses in East Tenn.

1) Pat Summit
2) Patricia Neal
3) Dolly Parton

Sad news. My prayers go out to her family & to the Vol Nation. She was truly a legand & a class act.

Her family can take comfort in the fact that her suffering is over. RIP.

Great lady!

We sat next to her during the Final four games in San Jose (a long time ago). Everybody kept coming up to talk to her, and she didn’t get to see much of the games.

Too young! I am not a huge basketball fan, and have never watched a woman’s basketball game start to finish. Nor am I particularly a fan of Tennessee. But I know who Pat Summitt was. She definitely left her mark on the sports world.

I met Pat several times ironically in washerteria where several of her players were living. She was always checking up on them and hovering over them like a Mother. We had a few conversations and she was very congenial. I was just out off active duty and new to Tennessee the fall of 1977 and didn't know who she was until later. RIP Pat.
