Original study: Exhaled Breath Isoprene Rises During Hypoglycemia in Type 1 Diabetes
Cats can do this, as well...of course; you’ll NEVER see a ‘Medical Detection Cat’.
4.5 mmol/L = to 81 mg/dl.
In the USA, we use mg/dl, so 4.5 here is equivalent to 4.5...
It’s 18 times or 4.5 times 18 = 81.
For the opposite, divide by 18.
Whoops!

Great article!
They are called “ketones” and the medical community have known about them for almost a century. It ain’t current news, folks.
When my blood sugar gets to a certain level, I might register a BAC over 0.08 on ketones alone.
Which is why I decline breathalyzer tests after telling LEO that I am diabetic. Then I’ll tell him, if he persists, to get a warrant for a blood test.
Good, but the title is deceptive.
So we could also make an isoprene breathalyzer....?
They don’t know my lazy mutts who fall asleep in their food bowls.
My late sister-in-law needed this. Her blood sugar would be fine one minute, and a few minutes later she would be drunk acting, more or less, and uncooperative. Her kids finally got her to give up her drivers license because she would get low while out driving, and become a menace.
