It would be interesting to know what specific rights the respondents believe they lack.
The right to skin you alive, make that skin into a wallet and still keep you working to fill it with money and benefits.
“Black pride” how can you he proud if you can’t get past toilet training? Like hearing “White Daddy, I’m finished” in a child’s singsong voice from the toidy, and Uncle Sam groans and goes to do his doody. Start your adult life by taking care of your own wipes, get your own azz off the pot, and start thinking like an individual that matters instead of like an ant that doesn’t want to piss off the collective.
Once a young black man was waiting for me to finish a conversation on the phone with my Mom. I told her “I love you” and finished the call, and somehow he was amused and amazed by that. “How can you say stuff like that out loud, even to your Moms? My friends would give me s... if they heard me say ‘I love you’ to any woman, even my Moms.”
“Well, that’s the difference. I’m a man and a man can say ‘I love you’ or do any other damn thing without giving a shit about f’ed up ‘friends’”. Not having enough “black pride” to quit being just another “black ant” is keeping him and his friends sitting on the pot waiting for White Daddy to clean up their mess and recharge their EBTs.
Its been thirty years since I heard a black man say “we’re going to start black businesses and employ black men” like they were even going to attempt to be part of any solution, even a biased solution for themselves is better than a life on the pot crying for “Daddy.”
I knew two black men who are both outstanding successes in life, but I knew without fail if they’re having a bad day or business didn’t go their way. From halfway up the walk: “White man” this and “white establishment” that. And one of them actually hated this country so much that he retired and sold everything he owned to move to South Africa because he believed he would be welcomed by his African brothers in a country where “finally the black man is in charge”...uhhh...excuse me...heard of Zimbabwe? Uganda? Somalia? Liberia? He went to South Africa and dropped off the face of the earth; went missing and his friends never heard from him again. He didn’t want “black independence”. He wanted a country where white people are practically on the run and doing a black man’s bidding. And what I think happened to him? He came off that plane with his attitude thinking he could walk the streets of Durban, and in their eyes, they saw a caramel colored spoiled White Man. And he got swallowed up like a midnight snack.
They are all unwritten, completely subjective “rights”. I put rights in quotes because they’re not rights as you and I understand them. For example, a big one would be “the right to go to a job interview and not get the job based without believing it was due to racism.” Right now, it’s likely that a black person who doesn’t get a job they believe they’re qualified for believes that’s due to racism over any other reason.
I would be willing to bet, it would be monetary.
A few thousand shekels ought to cover it. Each.
