The original Independence Day was made to re-elect Bill Clinton. They made the President a former fighter pilot “with character issues” with a young daughter, and a wife who gets killed.
If it were only true to life about the last part.
I liked Judd Hirsch in the original. He was very good on Taxi too.
When the DVD comes out, I guess I’ll watch it.
Maybe Megaforce from 1982 will get the long not wanted sequel as well.
