Well, they may believe in science but they're too stupid to actually know any of it and too lazy to do it.

More importantly, their belief in science usually involves them having access to “science” that others do not, which means privately funded science. Wayne Enterprises (Batman) and Stark Industries (Iron Man) were both (fictitious) highly successful development firms that were publicly traded, with huge government contracts to “hide” their secret projects. Lets see, we also have Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic / Fantastic 4) following a similar path, but he did not own the company. Professor Xavier also followed the capitalist approach to building a fortune. I could go on, but I have to get back to work .. cause I am a capitalist.
