This Disney webpage and photo promotes Kayak rentals at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

Bring your kids.

I’ve been to Disney twice, as a 4th grader in the 70’s and again in the 90’s.
I always thought of the place and the general experience as beautiful and amazing.
would love to visit again but i am now so broke that even a trip to my town square is now considered a “vacation”.

Maybe things will turn around some day...

His parents should have known. This is Florida. It is very different from where they are from. Sometimes tourists leave their brains at home when they come to the state. There are a multitude of naturally occurring situations that can take lives. Alligators and hurricanes are just two of them.

There are severe lightning storms in Florida too. I’ve seen tourists, in the pool when a storm comes up, refuse to get out when told lightening is dangerous and they need to exit the pool. People on golf courses get struck all the time. Gators are a dangerous aspect of living in Florida.

Since Florida is most famous for its gators, people visiting the state need to remember that fact and take precautions. It’s not a joke. They go after people and animals. They don’t care at all what the venue looks like. They can show up any time in places they have never been seen before.

Disney World is ridiculously expensive.

I anticipate it will be even more so after the settlement with the family of the little boy.

Craziest rain i have ever seen in my life was in Florida, Panama City on the Panhandle around ‘89-90.
When i saw those black clouds coming in over the gulf i knew we were in trouble...
Unbelievable rain like i had ever seen.
i was shocked that there was even any oxygen to breathe there was so much water.
Basically ruined my trip, at least the first two days were nice...and the day we had to leave.

Especially if you build and maintain a beach on that lagoon.

Were they given a warning at the check-in counter to the resort?

Disney will pay big bucks when this is said and done.

Are allegators a protected species? They should be hunted down to extinction. Good for nothing but killing.

The wildlife guy said Disney gets rid of gators when necessary.

Yes.

“No Swimming” does not convey the danger from alligators.

I grew up in South Florida and lived there until 1998. I’ve been to Disney World many times. I had no idea there were alligators in that lake. I just never thought about it.

At Cape Canaveral they have signs along the sidewalks warning not to step off into the bushes because of gators.

I was there in 1996 with my 10 year old daughter and as we were pulling into the main parking lot a 8-10ft gator walked across the road in front of us.

Exactly, and they show Disney movies on the sand on the other side of the pathway, attracting families with small children in the dark evening hours.

My own little grandchildren have been right there many times, and by the grace of God, it didn’t happen to them. It could have. The little one did nothing that my own grand children hadnt’ done. I am anguished by this.

WDW no doubt settled instead of letting it make headlines. I can’t imagine the victim (kid at the time) would be bound by an agreement his parents made. Not sure the “heirs, assigns” would carry in a case like that. After all HE is the one who was injured.
